Join me at Bank, Penn Hill for a relaxed pinched pottery experience.

Spend an unhurried evening making your own little autumn pumpkin.  Using the simple, tactile technique of pinched pottery, you’ll start with a ball of clay and slowly shape and mould it between your fingers, building up the form pinch by pinch and allowing the pumpkin to emerge naturally from the clay.

This is a workshop centred around the pleasure of making rather than perfection, embracing the organic nature of the subject and the creative freedom that provides. There’s something wonderfully meditative and sensory about working with clay in this way – slowing down, feeling the material take shape in your hands, and enjoying the quiet rhythm of making. You’ll be gently guided throughout, with plenty of time to experiment and make the piece your own.

Your pumpkin will then be glazed and fired for you after the workshop, ready to collect 4–6 weeks later. You’ll be able to choose from a selection of carefully considered, aesthetic glaze colours, creating a contemporary take on an autumn classic that will sit beautifully within your home long after the season has passed.

A welcome drink is included, and the atmosphere is informal, social, and quietly creative – perfect whether you come alone or with friends. No previous pottery experience is needed, just a willingness to get your hands dirty and enjoy the process.

NB: Every effort is made to return your finished piece to you, but handmade ceramics can be unpredictable and with multiple processes and kiln firings, there is always a small risk of cracking, or flaws developing along the way.
